More Moiré²
Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, NiederlandeMore Moiré²
With More Moiré² Vermeulen explores the dissonance between the experience of incorporeal digitality and material corporeality.
Echoing the intent of his earlier projects, this installation also challenges visitors’ senses.
Inspired by the work of light artists such as Doug Wheeler and James Turrel, he creates
an overwhelming cinematic experience in a panoramic Ganzfeld space. His composed landscapes of light, sound and shifting
moiré patterns confound our sensory perceptions. With More Moiré² Vermeulen compels our senses to reset, and amplifies
our awareness of our bodily existence.
Developed by Vermeulen over the last few months, More Moiré² was jointly commissioned by Sonic Acts and W139.
More Moiré² is a co-production of Sonic Acts and W139 and is supported by the NL Film Fonds and the Creative Industries Fund
NL in the context of Immerse/Interact. More Moiré² is a collaboration between Sonic Acts with Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
More Moiré² is part of Re-Imagine Europe, and is partly funded by the European Union’s programme Creative Europe.
