Decumano und Cardo
ConExpo 2015 Milan, ItalyDecumano and Cardo
The Mehler Texnologies material covers an area the size of thirteen football pitches at Expo 2015 in Milan
As textile constructions are the favoured design feature at Expo 2015 in Milan, Mehler Texnologies® benefits from its excellent reputation in the field of high-quality coated textiles.
The idea of the two axes derives from the Roman concept
of a town grid, with Decumano and the perpendicular Cardo. These are the typical features of Roman town planning,
which can not only be seen in the grids of old Roman towns but also in cities such as Jerusalem or Damascus.
As Milan gets a little calmer during summer, the Expo designers decided to cover the area with two axes.
It appears as if the membranes are only loosely hanging in the rectangular frames.
