11/23/2009 - Artificial garden for Grand Hotel
As part of modernisation work at the Grand Hotel Hermitage in Monte Carlo one of the venerable establishment's inner courtyards had to be turned into a building site. As construction trenches are not amongst the things that hotel guests like to see, an overhead cover was erected spanning the entire site.
An artist designed a picture of an 'artificial garden' especially for the purpose, which was then digitally printed onto VALMEX® MESH plus 7520. There were two reasons for opting for a mesh fabric: firstly, it had to horizontally span an area of 600 square metres without any sagging, which given the fabric's weight of just 470g per square metre was relatively easy. Secondly, the high level of translucency provided by VALMEX® MESH plus enabled daylight to be utilised for the construction work.
The photograph with the fitter impressively demonstrates how tear resistant VALMEX® MESH plus is and how durable the welded seams are thanks to the excellent quality of the coating.
